Maypro Industries, in collaboration with Tokiwa Phytochemical and the University of Tokyo, has published a significant research study on SIRTMAX®, a proprietary extract of Kaempferia parviflora, commonly known as black turmeric. This research, featured in the journal Communications Biology, centers around a compound named quercetin 3,5,7,3′,4′-pentamethyl ether (KPMF-8) found in SIRTMAX®. The study highlights the compound's unique ability to directly activate the SIRT1 protein, which is crucial for various cellular functions including energy metabolism, cell survival, and inflammation regulation.
